Well, 16 years ago, when I applied, you did need to get
screened at headquarters first and be put on an eligibility
list. Then they would start calling you for interviews.
However, if you wait for them to call you, they will be calling
you for the "hard to place" schools. If you want to try to get
into a specific area, you should try to solicit your own
position. Send resumes with cover letters directly to
principals at schools and then follow up with phone calls or
walk in visits. I realize the traditional calendar campuses
are closed right now. But the principals will be back in their
schools at the end of August, and school begins for the
traditional calendar on Septemeber 3. You also have the year-
round-schools that you can work on those principals right now.
