I appreciate that you are trying to brainstorm a soulution, but
hmmmm, a 5% tax increase each year? I did the math for the fourteen
years I have lived in my house, and based on a 5% tax increase
compunded annually, that would be a 53% increase! I can't see that
as a sound or realistic solution. It would be far too burdensome
for the working tax payers who do not see annual salary increases.
I certainly have not received an annual 5% salary increase each
year. In fact, it has been a couple of years since I have seen ANY
raise. When I did receive a raise, I think that it was around 3%
and that was around two or three years ago, which did not account
for the increases to insurance costs.
