Before I moved to CA 25 years ago with my new husband I was told not to go
by several of my coworkers because "they're all heathens out there and spend
all their time in hot tubs." Well, we do have a "hot tub" but we're too busy
to use it! I think people's images of CA come from TV. I live in a town of
100,000 surrounded by ag fields. It's as conservative here is at was in my
midwestern town but maybe just a tad more open-minded. We get student
teachers from several different colleges and I haven't noticed any strange
ideas from anyone. They seem to adjust to our district's No Child Left
Untested mantra!
