Post: Ca. Edjoin application dismissial question

On the last page on the CALIF. Edjoin application it says
    ""* DISMISSALS Required Response
Have you ever been dismissed or asked to resign from any
    position?
    Yes No
If you answered "Yes", please explain below.""

I have a calif. clear teaching (science) credential. I
taught High School Science for the 2008-2009 school year.
My contract was not renewed (this year 2009) because of low
Enrolloment for the next school year (2009-2010). I
finished out the school year in June (2009). Hopefully I
will find a full time job soon.

I don't believe I could be considered dismissed (maybe im
wrong). do you think I was dismissed??? I feel a nonrenewed
contract is not the same as dismissed.

    My question is:
Should I put "yes" or "no"?? to the edjoin question "Have
you ever been dismissed or asked to resign from any
    position?"

If I should put "yes", how should I explain my "yes"? If I
have to put 'yes', will putting "yes" hurt my chances (on
the application) in getting a teaching job?
