Good Luck with this all too frequent situation...
...It may NOT be such a good idea to squelch the rumors that
parents in the school hear about this child's dangerous
behavior. The rumors do not need to be spread by teachers, but
if a parent asks, a simple nod or shake of the head could
either deny or affirm what is known by the school. We all
know that teacher/staff safety is not the main priority of
most school districts. However, if student safety is
compromised, and parents from the community are disgruntled,
school boards and district offices are more prone to act. I
feel for this child, but there is definitely a pattern of
unhealthy and unsafe behavior with the child and his family.
Safety should always be the numberone priority for a school
and its students!
BTW...Based on this child's pattern of violence and deviant
behavior, a regular public school setting does not seem
suitable for this child. The behavior of this child sounds
like he is SED (Severely Emotionally Disturbed) and probably
should be assigned to a non-public school. It sounds like the
district should reclassify this child, especially since the
safety of other students are at risk!
